Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Chief Ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann launched a scathing attack on Akali Dal and Congress Party. Mann said that the sand mafia, cable mafia and drug mafia were started in Punjab by the Badal government and Congress helped these mafias to flourish. In the last elections, the Congress had promised the people of Punjab to end drugs within four weeks, but after coming to power, Congressmen patronage the drug mafia like other mafias. Now Congress leaders have no moral right to seek votes from the people of Punjab. Instead of seeking votes, Congress should apologize to the people of Punjab for making false promises during 2017 and then leaving people to suffer.

Mann said that due to the nexus of corrupt politicians sitting in power and drug mafia, today ‘Chitta’ and other intoxicants available everywhere in Punjab. The illegal drug dealers are running their business fearlessly. They have no fear of police-administration, because they have the protection of Congress and Akali governments. This nexus snatched pen and book from the hands of the youth of Punjab and destroyed the lives of lakhs of families.

On Thursday, Bhagwant Mann campaigned in favour of AAP candidates in various constituencies of Mansa district. Here he campaigned for Budhlada Assembly Constituency MLA and candidate Principal Budh Ram, Sardulgarh candidate Gurpreet Banawali and Mansa candidate Dr. Vijay Singla to form the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab by winning all the AAP candidates with an overwhelming majority.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and MP Bhagwant Mann hit out at Congress and Akali Dal saying, “We do not take any share in mafia, but we do share the pain and sufferings of people.” Mann said that the previous Akali-BJP and present Congress government encouraged sand mafia, cable mafia and drugs mafia and partnered in their illegal trades. He promised that the Aam Aadmi Party will root out the mafia rule in Punjab and provide facilities to the people with that money.

On Tuesday, Bhagwant Mann campaigned in favour of AAP candidate Jagdeep Singh ‘Kaka Brar’ from Sri Muktsar Sahib and addressed a large public meeting. Mann said that it is the policy of the Aam Aadmi Party to spend public money on the public. With the tax money of the public, the AAP government provides free good education and good medical facilities, free electricity, water etc. to the people. Kejriwal government of Delhi is an example of this. He said that Aam Aadmi Party is the only party in the country which fulfils all its promises.

Slamming Navjot Sidhu, Mann said that when Arvind Kejriwal had given a guarantee of ₹ 1000 financial assistance to all women above 18 years of Punjab, Sidhu was criticizing Kejriwal and asking where so much money will come from. Now by imitating Kejriwal, he himself is promising ₹ 2000 months to women. free LPG cylinders and many other things. Now Sidhu should tell from where this much money will come from? Have they got any note printing machine now?

Mann targeted the Congress government and said, “Actually Congress is not running a government but a circus. The Congress manifesto committee is headed by Pratap Singh Bajwa but Navjot Sidhu is making the announcements. Congress leaders have made fun of the party and the government.” Mann described the Channi government as a very weak and unstable government and said that due to the weak government, incidents of sacrilege and blasts are happening and mafia rule is flourishing in Punjab.

Attacking Akali Dal Badal, Mann said, “Akali Dal is an empty party. Sukhbir Badal is not liked by the people of Punjab at all, that’s why even at the age of 94, Parkash Singh Badal, while sitting in a wheelchair, is still campaigning for his political and paternal love. Mann quipped, “How can a 94-year-old man serve the public!”

Mann, while narrating Baba Nanak’s teachings on farming, business and jobs, appealed to the people of Punjab to support the Aam Aadmi Party and claimed to have the entire road map ready for Punjab. “The AAP government will take Punjab’s agriculture and business forward. For the prosperity of our farmers, we will increase the production of crops and reduce the cost and provide all the resources and facilities by increasing industry and trade in Punjab itself to the youth who are forced to migrate from Punjab,” said Mann

Aam Aadmi Party National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal while lashing out at patronizing mafia rule by Congress government in Punjab, said that sand mafia in Punjab alone runs illegal business of over Rs 20,000 crore. There are serious allegations of direct involvement of the ruling Congress MLAs, their ministers and their close associates, including the Chief Minister himself.

AAP supremo Kejriwal was responding to the queries of media persons on his arrival at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport Amritsar on Tuesday morning , who was on his one-day visit to Punjab for participation in party programs at Kartarpur (Jalandhar) and Hoshiarpur.

Arvind Kejriwal said that when allegations of involvement of Congress MLAs and ministers including the Chief Minister in sand mafia and many other illegal activities (mafia)  are being levelled, then who will protect the interests of the general public? Who will save the interest of Punjab? To whom will the common people go for justice? Can the welfare of Punjab and the people of Punjab be expected from such mafia and patrons of mafia state? Kejriwal also asked how the mafia would stop in a state where the Chief Minister himself has been accused of sand and gravel mafia.

Kejriwal said that earlier the Badals and BJP had looted Punjab by patronizing all sorts of mafia during their regime. In 2017, people expressed their faith in the promises made by Congress and the Captain, but they too followed the footsteps of the Badals and in five and a half years, the hopes of Punjab and the Punjabis have been shattered.

Kejriwal said that according to an estimate, illegal trade of Rs 20,000 crore per annum in sand and gravel mining alone was going on in Punjab. This money can be used for the welfare of the people, but it is going into the pockets of the leaders instead of the government coffers.

Kejriwal promised that with the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in 2022, all sorts of mafia, including illegal sand mining, would be shut down. The money that is going into the pockets of political leaders from the resources of the state due to mafia rule will go to the needy pockets of mothers, sisters and the elderly.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab in-charge Raghav Chadha has accused Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi of lying and misleading the people of Punjab about the illegal sand mining in his constituency Chamkaur sahib’s village Jindapur. Mr. Chadha apprised the Chandigarh media about the statements made on Social media about the illegal mining in Jindapur by the local people there. Raghav Chadha demaded Punjab Police to file a case against Charanjit Singh Channi and illegally operating mafia.

Addressing reporters at the party headquarters here on Monday, Raghav Chadha said that a few days back he (Raghav Chadha) along with the media, raided the illegally operating sand mining gorge in village Jindapur which is in Charanjit Singh Channi’s own constituency Chamkaur sahib, where he had exposed the ongoing sand mafia in Punjab. Chadha said that instead of taking action against the sand mafia, Chief Minister Channi visited a sand mining site in a river near Ropar and claimed that he (Channi) was standing in Jindapur mining site and (claimed) there was no illegal mining.

Raghav Chadha has alleged, “Chief Minister Channi had lied about going to a sand pit in village Jindapur, when he was present at a sand pit near Ropar,which is 40 kilometers from Jindapur village. In the Video of Chief Minister’s visit to the site, a Gurudwara sahib on the banks of Ropar river is clearly visible, whereas there is no Gurdwara Sahib building near the gorge of Jindapur.”

Chadha released videos of some local leaders of villages near Jindapur, Lehbar Singh (Dawoodpur Sarpanch), Harinder Kaka Jatana (Block President Kisan Union), Karnail Singh Raseedpur (Gen. Sec. Kisan Union) , Jagir Singh (Gurdwara Committee President Vajidpur) and Happy Dawoodpur (Youth Akali leader), according to them due to sand mining in village Jindapur has been illegally done, is putting lives at stake in 35 nearby villages. Through this video the villagers said that sand extraction was discontinued only for 3 hours visit of Raghav Chadha and was resumed later again. Many trucks full of illegally mined sand were parked there. Here sand is being extracted from the forest deptt land. Thousands of saplings planted in that land have been destroyed.

We complained about it DFO but he didn’t take any action because he got 10% share. Dhunsi Dam is in danger of collapsing and 35 villages including Vajidpur and Raseedpur are at risk. This area as well as Sand mining deptt, both belong to Chief Minister. Channi himself had visited Dhunsi dam during floods when he was only MLA and planted trees to save dam from collapsing. CM is requested to take action against the illegal sand diggers.”

Raghav Chadha pointed out that when Mr. Channi became CM he said that, “Sand Mafia should not come to me. I am not the Chief Minister of sand mafia.” But soon after that like his fellow congressmen he broke his promise and joined hands with the sand mafia, the sand mafia, today, is running under the patronage of Chief Minister Channi, claimed Raghav Chadha. Chadha said that if mining was taking place in Jindapur as per the law then why the sand quarry was not marked as per Rule No. 20 of the government notification. Why weren’t signs and flags put up there? According to the notification, flags should be hoisted on the sand pit.

Raghav Chadha further added that forest department officer who had written a letter to SDM complaining about this illegal sand mining has also been wrongly transferred. When this area of Jindapur is under the protection of forest deptt that menas no mining can be done here, which is further proof that sand mafia is working under CM Channi and he’s not only aware of all these but has also joined the hands with sand mafia to protect them.

Raghav Chadha asked, “Why is Chief Minister Channi lying? Being at such a respectful position, is it graceful of him to lie?” He said that sand was not being sold at fixed price and sand mafia is still in full swing. He was accompanied by party spokesperson Neil Garg and advocate Dinesh Chadha.

Asserting that Badal family had ruthlessly plundered the state, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi today said that Badals will have to pay for their sins against the state and its people.

Addressing a gathering here at local grain market, the Chief Minister, accompanied by President of Punjab Congress Navjot Singh Sidhu, said that Badals had a hand in each and every misdeed against Punjab. He said that cable mafia, drug mafia, sand mafia, transport mafia and others, all thrived under the misrule of Badals adding that this mafia looted the wealth of Punjab. CM Channi said that the patronage of Badals to all these mafias ruined the state but now they have to pay back for their sins adding that the day is not too far.

The Chief Minister said that now when they have started crack down on mafia patronised by Badals they are running pillar to post for saving them. However, he said that the sins of Badals are unpardonable and they will be made accountable for their acts of omission and commission. CM Channi said that ED action against cable mafia owned by Badals is a welcome but a delayed decision.

The Chief Minister while making a scathing attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that this ‘rumour monger’ politician has a desire to rule Punjab due to which he is bent upon to mislead Punjabis. He unequivocally said that Kejriwal and company must remember one thing that history is witness to the fact that Punjabis love their land and people adding that neither they had ever allowed nor they will permit any outsider in future to rule their state. CM Channi said that Delhi model is non-existent whereas Punjab model of Congress is delivering its best to people.

While quipping on Kejriwal, the Chief Minister said that he is not even aware of the basic topography to state. Throwing a challenge to Delhi Chief Minister, he asked him to differentiate between ‘Gulli Danda’ and ‘Bandar Killa’ the two traditional games of state. CM Channi categorically said that dream of Kejriwal and company to loot Punjab will never realise.

The Chief Minister, while striking an emotional chord with the people, said that he hails from a common family so he understands their problem well. He said that every step of his government aims at well being of the common man. CM Channi said that government is of the common man, for the common man and by common man.

The Chief Minister reiterated that an elite and unholy nexus of politicians across party line had excluded power from common man just to loot Punjab. He said that the members of this elite group have a common bond in form of their own vested interests and loot of the state adding that they have been ill fully doing this so by enjoying the fruits of power in game of musical chairs where the ruler changes after every five years but power remains in their hands. However, CM Channi said that now this nexus has been broken and the power is with the common man.

The CM Channi said that he was fortunate that Congress leadership has bestowed him this service to serve the state. He said that I am working to resolve the issues that are faced by every common man of the state. Listing the several pro-people initiatives taken by his government, he said that Power bill arrears worth Rs. 1500 crore have been waived, Power rates for domestic consumers have been reduced by Rs. 3 per unit, Bills to the tune of Rs. 1200 crore have been waived off in respect of motors in rural areas, water charges brought down to Rs. 50, Rates for sand have been reduced to Rs. 5.50 per cubic feet and Punjab Government is bearing Rs. 35 as part of cost sharing out of increased Rs. 50 of Sugarcane prices while the private mills now only have to bear Rs. 15. CM Channi said that not only this but several other path breaking decisions will be taken in coming days too.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister announced setting up of a nursing college in Baghapurana along with constructing a stadium on name of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. He also announced upgrading two existing hospitals in Baghapurana along with grants for Guru Nanak College and Sports Academy. CM also announced to accord Sub Tehsil status to Smadh Bhai.

Welcoming CM Channi and Sidhu, MLA from Baghapurana Darshan Singh Brar said that he had no words for thanking the leaders for coming to this constituency. He said that with both these leaders at helms of affairs the prestige of workers has been restored. Brar also thanked the Chief Minister for showering grants to his segment.

Meanwhile, AAP MLA from Raikot Jagtar Singh Jagga joined the Congress party while saying good bye to Aam Aadmi Party. Both CM Channi and Sidhu welcomed him into party fold.

Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Member Parliament Mohammed Sadiq, MLAs Darshan Singh Brar, Kulbir Singh Zira, Satkar Kaur and Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi.

Reacting sharply to the completion of 49 days of the Channi government in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab senior leader and Leader of Opposition, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the 49 days performance of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has proved to be zero. However in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal’s first government set such a record in 49 days, due to which the people of Delhi adopted Arvind Kejriwal firmly in 2015 and 2019 with a record majority.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here on Saturday, Harpal Singh Cheema said, “Today, the Channi government has completed 49 days, but in these 49 days, the Channi government has not been able to resolve any future issues. For which the people of Punjab have been eagerly waiting for the last four-and-a-half-years.”

Cheema asked Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi a barrage of questions. “Tell me how many sand mafia kingpins were put behind bars, action against how many officers who colluded with transport mafia was taken; which cable mafia kingpins were caught. Did any of the culprits of desecration and Behbal Kalan were caught? Which big defaulter of the drug mafia was picked up?” The AAP leader said that apart from drama and infighting, the Channi government could not do a single thing in the true sense of the word, which was there in the Congress’ 2017 election manifesto; which include Ghar-Ghar Rozgar, complete debt waiver for farmers and farm laborers, old age pension of Rs 2,500 per month, unemployment allowance of Rs 2,500 per month, plots of 5 marlas and others.

Harpal Singh Cheema said that when Capt Amarinder Singh was making a promise to stop drug menace and put drug smugglers behind bars within four weeks by taking oath of Sri Gutka Sahib; Charanjit Singh Channi, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, OP Soni, Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa and others were also present on the stage, but the Channi government has not caught a single notorious drug mafia in 49 days. He alleged that the government was not picking up the notorious defaulters of drug smuggling under the pretext of sealed envelopes. However, the Honorable High Court had not directed that further investigation, interrogation or prosecution of kingpins involved in multi-crore drug smuggling cases cannot be carried out. If the Channi government had the will and determination, it could have broken the back of the entire drug mafia in 49 days, said Cheema.

On the issue of Navjot Singh Sidhu slamming the Channi government on drug smuggling and desecration issues, Harpal Singh Cheema said that Navjot Singh Sidhu was saying what the Aam Aadmi Party had been saying from the beginning. He said that the AAP had been opposing the appointment of DGP and AG from day one as their background was tainted and justice could not be expected from them. Cheema said the Channi government, which is running like a homeless person, has not yet decided what to do about the controversial AG APS Deol and DGP IPS Sahota.

Harpal Singh Cheema said that during his 49 days in power, Arvind Kejriwal had not only reduced but also eradicated corruption by throwing two and a half dozen corrupt officers and employees in jails in Delhi. Similarly, in 49 days, such a pro-people model on education, health, power, etc was put before the people of Delhi, due to which the people of Delhi elected Arvind Kejriwal permanently. However, the 49 days of the Channi government have proved to be extremely disappointing.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema has blamed the Chief Minister’s Office for the devastation caused by the sand mafia on the Beas River bed, saying it had the blessings of the power that be.

In a statement issued from party headquarters on Tuesday, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the arable land in and around the areas along the Beas River, including Mukerian, Hajipur, and Talwara (Hoshiarpur) and had been destroyed by the sand mafia active in the state, which, he alleged was directly controlled by the Chief Minister’s residential office.

Cheema said that thousands of acres of land in more than 5 dozen villages had been dug up 50 to 100 feet deep, saying that more than 500 trucks, tippers, and trolleys, JCBs, et al carry out the illegal operation with impunity, day in and day out. He added that the aggrieved people and various political and other organizations of the affected villages, including the representatives of Aam Aadmi Party, had been making written and verbal appeals to the administration concerned, but in vain. He said that all this could only be managed with the help of the Chief Minister’s Office, giving a leeway to the mighty sand mafia to have a free run sans the scantest fear of the law.

The LoP warned that if the Punjab Government and Hoshiarpur district administration failed to tame the activity of the mining mafia from wreaking havoc in the area within 48 hours, besides posing a potential threat to the environment and ecology and indulging in an open ‘loot’ of public exchequer. Cheema said that the very presence of the sand had pushed the lives and lands of the people of the area in peril, the Aam Aadmi Party would wage a relentless battle to buy justice for the people of the area.
