Area near environmental park to be developed as Green Belt

—8500 saplings planted on Bathinda-Sangrur Road at the bacon government Land

Massive plantation drive in Barnala is on full swing. As a part of plantation drive across the district, area near environment park will be developed as Green Belt.
Divulging the detail Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Nayar said that district Barnala has taken initiative to adopt extensive plantation to improve the groundwater table and improve air quality. As a part of this, Bathinda-Sangrur eroad near Nature Park is being developed as green cover.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Paramvir Singh said that more than 8500 saplings have been planted on Bathinda-Sangrur road at the bacon government land. 2800 teak plants, 520 Pilkan, 3400 Sukhchain, 900 Tahli, 600 Gulmohar plants, about 400 Amaltas plants have been planted in this area. He said that target is to plant 6 lakh saplings including mini forests in the entire district and more than 2,11,000 saplings have been planted so far.

District Barnala will lead on the greenery front, Meet Hayer

The Minister for Environment Mr. Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said that constant efforts were being made for environmental conservation. Under this a large level greenery campaign has been started at district Barnala to make district front runner in having green cover in state. Besides other areas, the grain market in city is also being developed as a green belt
