Chandigarh, August 20 – On the first day of the Monsoon Session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha which commenced here today, obituary resolutions were passed to pay rich tributes to those prominent personalities who have expired between the period from the end of the previous session and the beginning of the current session.  Leader of the House, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal and all the members of the House observed two minutes silence and prayed to Almighty to grant peace to the departed souls.

Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala paid tributes and read out the obituary resolutions. These included former Governor of Haryana, former Vidhan Sabha Speaker, former Minister and Minister of State, former Members of Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Freedom Fighters and Martyrs of Haryana and close relatives of members of Haryana Vidhan Sabha. The members of House also paid rich tributes to Corona Warriors, others who lost their lives due to COVID-19 Pandemic. The House also placed on record its deep sense of sorrow on the sad demise of ‘Flying Sikh’ Sh. Milkha Singh. The house also observed silence to pay homage to the departed souls.

Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh. Gian Chand Gupta read out the obituary resolutions and paid tributes to the departed souls. Leader of the Opposition, Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda also read out the obituary resolutions on behalf of his party.

These included former Governor of Haryana, Sh. Jagannath Pahadia, former Speaker of Haryana Legislative Assembly, Sh. Satbir Singh Kadian, former Minister of Haryana, Dr. Kamla Verma, former Deputy  Minister of Haryana, Professor Maha Singh, former Minister of State, Sh. Rao Dharam Pal, former Minister of State, Sh. Bahadur Singh, former Members of Haryana Legislative Assembly, Sh. Kitab Singh, Sh. Dariyao Singh Rajora, Chaudhary Zile Singh, Sh. Puran Singh and the Flying Sikh’ Sh. Milkha Singh.

Rich Tributes were also paid to four freedom fighters namely, Sh. Amilal of village Kherki, District Gurugram, Sh. Lalti Ram of village Dubaldhan, District Jhajjar and Sh. Prabhati Lal of village Karira, District Mahendragarh who played a significant role in achieving freedom for the country. The House conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families.

The House also paid rich tributes to 24 martyrs who showed indomitable courage and made supreme sacrifice of their lives while safeguarding the unity and the integrity of the motherland.
