Chandigarh, August 21 – After Gurugram, Sirsa has become the second district in Haryana where Bandicoot Robot Machine will be used for cleaning manholes and sewerage pipes. Haryana Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister, Mr. Ranjit Singh, inaugurated the machine purchased by the Public Health Engineering Department at a cost of Rs 51 lakh today.
Advance technology has been used in this machine. It has a four- vision camera which has the ability to show better images even in the dark, making it easy to detect anything stuck in the sewer. Apart from this, the machine also has intelligent bucket system and can rotate 360 degrees. The machine can perform every task that is done by a human being while cleaning sewers, including cleaning and discharging silt inside manholes. It can perform well despite presence of chemical and gas in the manhole.
The Power Minister said that the Bandicoot Robot Machine will prove to be helpful in keeping the city clean. With this machine, not only will the cleaning of manholes be quicker and better, but it will also eliminate the threat to the lives of employees while cleaning the sewerages. He said that this machine will also prove to be very effective in preventing pandemics like COVID-19 as it will be able to clean sewers without using hands.
Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department, Mr. RS Malik said that the Bandicoot Robot Machine is being used in more than 10 states of the country including Punjab, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Maharashtra and Kerala. He said that this machine can excavate 18 kg of garbage at a time and has a capacity to lift 125 kg weight. Due to its small size, this machine will be very effective in cleaning sewerage even in the narrow streets of the city and can clean a manhole in just 17 minutes.
