Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav: GDC Drass organizes Debate, Painting Competition

KARGIL, APRIL 15, 2021: As part of its weeklong programme to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, Government Degree College Drass, organized a painting and debate competition at the college premises here today.

A total of 20 students participated in the painting and debate competitions. The theme for the painting competition was Celebration of India’s 75th Independence while for the debate competition the theme was Role of Education in Nation Building.

The jury for the painting competition comprised of Assistant Professor Hyder Ali Askari and Dr Muhammad Salim while Professor Shujat Ali Mir and Dr Muhammad Salim were judges for the debate competition.

Rubina Banoo of 3rd semester, Sajida Banoo of 3rd semester and Rubina Banoo of 4th semester were adjudged as third, second and first position respectively for the painting competition while in case of the debate competition Sharif-ud-din of 4th semester, Rubina Banoo 2nd semester and Jawad Altaf of 4th semester were adjudged third, second and first position respectively

The programme concluded with prize distribution ceremony in which participants were felicitated with certificates and the winners were provided with both certificates and medals.

Principal GDC Drass Dr Amjad Ali while speaking on the occasion congratulated the meritorious students and advised others to participate in such programmes without hesitation. He said that participation in such programmes can bring positive changes in the overall personality of the students and further boost up their confidence level.

Assistant Professor Hyder Ali Askari while delivering the vote of thanks urged the students to participate in every event organized by the college. He also thanked the media fraternity for coverage of the event.

The programme was conducted by Director Physical Education Mustafa Ali, Professor Shujat Ali Mir and Dr Muhammad Salim.
