In the wake of second surge of Covid -19 crisis ,department of Psychology,Panjab university organised a special session on stress management for frontline staff of the Bhai Ghanaiyaji Institute of Health , Panjab university here on Friday. The psychological session was conducted by Professor (Dr) Seema Vinayak, Chairperson, Deptt of Psychology, who discussed an array of coping strategies for mental health challenges arising out of pandemic .
The interactive session also focused on the daily hassles faced by staff while dealing with corona- induced patient load . Underlying the need for a positive outlook while approaching the difficult situation , Dr Vinayak emphasised that a dose of optimism and social support can help tide over stress and anxiety arising from current extraordinary times . The session ,Dr Vinayak said, was continuation of the outreach programme of the Psychology department to provide psychological help to the public in these critical times.
Participating in the session, Dr Rupinder Kaur, Chief Medical Officer, Panjab University said that the session has not only provided a platform to health workers to share their stress and anxiety, it also offered practical tips to cope with them.
