Chandigarh, September 8 – The Union Ministry of Labour & Employment has handed over the e-SHRAM portal to the States and Union Territories to prepare a National Level Database of all workers working in the unorganized sector and to issue unique IE cards. On this portal, the workers of the unorganized sector will have to get themselves registered at Citizen Facilitation Centres.
While giving this information today, a spokesperson of Haryana Labour Department said that for this registration, building and other construction workers, migrant labourers, domestic servants, small farmers, labourers engaged in agriculture and other related fields, cattle rearers, self-employed workers, street vendors, Asha workers, Anganwadi workers, fish farmers, small shopkeepers, street vendors, domestic workers, carpenters, plumbers, rickshaw drivers, auto drivers, taxi drivers, MGNREGA workers, workers engaged in loading and unloading and all other workers who is not working in any Government Services and organized sector and does not hold an account of PF, ESI and NPS and is not an income tax payer and his age is between 18 to 59 years, all should get themselves registered at their nearest Atal Seva Kendras and Citizen Service Centres without paying any fees. At the time of registration, it is mandatory for the applicant to have his/her Aadhaar card, copy of bank account and mobile number which is linked with Aadhaar number.
He added that the labour will get the benefit of all the schemes being run by the Government of India and the State Government for the unorganized workers through the unique ID card. This will also support in facilitating necessary social security and other welfare schemes for the unorganized workers. He said that the database would prove to be very helpful and beneficial in identifying these unorganized workers at the time of crisis and also in providing them basic essential facilities.
