Chandigarh, September 22- Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala thanked the Central Government for increasing Minimum Support Price(MSP) of Rabi crops from Rs. 50 to Rs. 300 per quintal.
He said that increase in Minimum Support Price has proved the fact that the tall claims made by opposition saying that three Farm Ordinances passed by Central Government are a threat to MSP, were no less than ‘white lies’.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Food, Supply And Consumer Affairs Department, today said that Food Corporation of India (FCI) and other designated state agencies will purchase the crops of farmers at Minimum Support Price as before.
He said that Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi has also assured that procurement of farmers’ crops will continue on MSP, the system of mandis will also remain intact as before.
Mr. Dushyant Chautala said that the State Government has announced MSP of six rabi crops before the sowing of Rabi season starts, this will facilitate farmers to take concrete decisions regarding their cropping structure.
He said that MSP of pulses and oilseeds has been increased to encourage the production and further to reduce the dependence on imports of edible oils and pulses.
He informed that after the increase in MSP of wheat by Rs 50 per quintal for the upcoming Rabi-season, now the MSP has become Rs. 1975 per quintal. Likewise, gram’s MSP has been increased by Rs. 225, lentil’s MSP by Rs. 300, mustard MSP by Rs. 225 and barley MSP by Rs. 75 per quintal.
Deputy Chief Minister reiterated that he has always been advocating for the interests of farmers and will continue to do so. By increasing the Minimum Support Price of Rabi crops, Central Government has proved that this system will continue even further, so farmers should not worry at all, he said.
He said that the purchase of kharif crops starting from October 1 will also be done at Minimum Support Price and every single grain of the farmers of the state will be procured.
