Chandigarh, September 7: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala has directed the officers to make all necessary preparations for the procurement of kharif crops starting from October 1, 2020 so that the farmers do not face any difficulty. He directed that a letter should be written to Central Government for seeking permission for allowing the procurement of paddy which is procured for the Public Food Distribution System to start from September 25, 2020 instead of October 1, 2020.
The Deputy Chief Minister today held a review meeting regarding the arrangements made for procurement of kharif crops with the officers of Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board, Hafed, Haryana Warehousing Corporation, Food Corporation of India and other agencies.
It was informed in this meeting that this time 200 additional procurement centres will be set up for procurement of paddy which will bring the total procurement centres to 400. These procurement centres will be set up in eight districts which have high paddy production. Besides this, information about the preparations of bags, weighing machines etc. for packaging after paddy purchase was also shared by the department officers.
The Deputy Chief Minister was apprised that this time the number of procurement centres for procurement of bajra will be almost doubled and a total of 120 procurement centres will be set up. This time 30 procurement centres will be set up for moong, while earlier there was 15 centres.
It was also informed in the meeting that the last date for farmers to register their crop online on the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Boyra’ portal has been fixed for September 10, 2020 for millet and September 15, 2020 for paddy, moong, maize etc.
It was further informed that farmers of those villages which are under consolidation and who could not enter their data in ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal can now enter and provide the details in this portal. This system has been made live since September 2, 2020.
Directing the officers concerned to keep the mechanism of grain Mandis up-to-date, the Deputy Chief Minister said that all the sheds in these Mandis should be repaired. The roads connecting to these Mandis should also be repaired well in advance so as to ensure that the farmers coming to these Mandis do not face any trouble and can safely bring their crops for procurement.
While interacting with the media persons, after the meeting, Mr. Dushyant Chautala informed that a letter will be written on behalf of the State Government to the Central Government seeking the permission to procurement of paddy for the Public Distribution System will start from September 25, 2020 instead of October 1, 2020. He informed that every single grain of farmers’ crops will be procured by the State Government.

Umashankar, Additional, Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Mr. P. K Das, Managing Director, Hafed, Mr. D.K Behra, Director, Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Mr. Chander Shekhar Khare, Managing Director, Haryana Warehousing Corporation, Mr. Rajiv Rattan and other officials were present.
