Chandigarh, September 4 – The Mahagram Yojana will be implemented in village Chautala of Sirsa district in such a way that this village can emerge as a model in the entire State. Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala directed the officers concerned to complete all the works related to Mahagram Yojana to be carried out in this village within the stipulated time period.
Mr. Dushyant Chautala, who also holds the portfolio of Development and Panchayat Department, held discussions with senior officers of Public Health and Engineering and Development and Panchayat Departments here today to review Mahagram scheme and also took stock of the ongoing progress works under this scheme.
Deputy Chief Minister was apprised that Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Mahagram Yojana in Chautala village has been prepared and work will start soon.
The officers informed that the State Government will start a micro-irrigation project in this village along with a Solid Treatment Plant so that the treated water released from the plant can be used for irrigation.
The Deputy Chief Minister was apprised in the meeting that the Mahagram Yojana was started for those villages in the rural areas of the state having a population of more than 10,000. Under this scheme, sewerage system was to be started on the similar lines of cities in these villages. As many as 129 villages were selected for this. Thereafter a workshop was organized with the people of Gram Panchayat, some subject matter experts and other departments along with Development and Panchayat department. Furthermore, a study was done of the areas where sewerage system is already running in the villages.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that there is no shortage of funds for the Mahagram Yojana, start the work as soon as possible and also ensure its completion.
He said that Haryana Government has taken several steps for cleanliness in the State. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), where State was made Open Defecation-Free, now under the Mahagram Yojana, in the first phase, cleanliness in big villages is being prepared.
Additional Chief Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department, Mr. Devender Singh, Principal Secretary, Development and Panchayat Department, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal and other officers were present in the meeting.
