Modern revenue record room at district level will be ready in next two months – Financial Commissioner

Age old revenue records can now be viewed in a click on computers- Sanjeev Kaushal

Chandigarh, June 26- Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue & Disaster Management and Consolidation Department, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal has said that modern revenue record rooms will be ready in the next two months at all district headquarters of the state.

He said that the work of digitising the age-old revenue records in the State is going on very fast and now soon these records will be easily available at the click of the mouse whereas earlier it used to take a lot of time to view and trace these records. Sh. Kaushal said that the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has approved an ambitious project of Rs.77 crore to digitise the record rooms of revenue offices across the state. He shared that about Rs. 44 crore is being spent to set up a modern record room at the district-level.

Sh. Kaushal was holding a review meeting with the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts across the state through video conference here today. He said that at present, the Revenue Department is piled up with lakhs of files, some even before the year 1870 and the Department is maintaining it manually.

Sh. Kaushal informed that under the new initiative, important revenue records and documents are being scanned, catalouged and kept in digital boxes in modern record rooms. He said that these records/documents can be accessed at the time of need, which will save time and money of the Department and the general public. He said that 92.92 per cent of the documents have been scanned so far.

Haryana government’s name instead of Department with regard to ownership of government land

Sh. Kaushal informed that in the column of land records, the name of Haryana government will be mentioned instead of the name of the Department in the ownership of government land and the name of the department will be mentioned in the Khana Kasht column. Similarly, with regard to the land of Municipal bodies and Panchayat, the name of Municipal body and Panchayat will be mentioned. This work has already been done on pilot basis in Barwala and Fatehabad of Panchkula.

Non-essential column in Land Records column

He said that after the advent of digital technology, a committee will be constituted to do away with irrelevant columns. The committee will submit its report in the next 15 days. He suggested that there should also be a column mentioning comprehensive details of government land so that the status of construction etc is present.

Speaking with regard to the border dispute, he said that he will be meeting the Revenue Secretary of Uttar Pradesh in the next few days. Similarly, with regard to the Baltana and Panchkula border dispute of Punjab, a meeting will also be held with the concerned Revenue Secretary in coming days. During the meeting, Sh. Kaushal also reviewed the SVAMITVA Yojana. He  asked the Deputy Commissioners to expedite the work of distribution of property cards.
