Corporation’s AT&C losses decline from 16.50 percent to 13.63 percent
Chandigarh, June 2: The Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam have come down by 2.87 per cent this year. Corporation’s AT&C losses have come down from 16.50 percent last year to 13.63 percent this year.
Giving information in this regard, a spokesperson of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam said that special drives were launched by the corporation to bring AT&C loss to the minimum level, under which all the consumers would be billed according to their actual consumption. Consumers were made aware to pay their dues including the current bill as well as the outstanding bill amount. Apart from this, the electricity bill dues of government departments were also paid and a campaign was launched to cut the connections of the consumers who did not pay the dues of the electricity bill.
He said that one of the major reasons for AT&C loss is electricity theft. To check the theft of electricity campaigns were also organized from time to time by Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, through special teams to catch electricity theft, which was monitored regularly. As a result of the promptness of the officers and employees of the Corporation, 48729 cases of electricity theft were caught during the financial year 2020-21, due to which a fine of Rs.16298.67 lakh was imposed which is almost double from the previous year and out of this, about Rs.8280.79 lakh was collected as fine this year. The amount was also recovered, due to which the revenue of the corporation also increased. On one hand power efficiency has been improved by curbing power theft and on the other hand line losses have also reduced, he added.
The spokesperson said that during the year 2020-21, the officers and employees of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam showed devotion and diligence, despite unforeseen circumstances like COVID-19 pandemic and non-payment of full amount of electricity bills from various government departments during the same period. It has given encouraging results in the interest of the corporation and it is a big achievement for Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam to bring AT&C loss down to 13.63 percent. The situation of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has improved as a result of these steps taken in the direction of reducing losses.
He said that in order to reduce the AT&C loss, while awareness campaigns are being run for the payment of outstanding electricity bills and also to avoid theft of electricity, power facilities are also being increased. Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam is committed to provide smooth and uninterrupted power supply to its consumers and to solve their problems and also appeals to the consumers not to steal and pay the electricity bills on time so that the corporation is able to provide efficient electricity facilities.
