Two persons to 15 years of imprisonment in NDPS case

Chandigarh, October 22: To completely crush the drug menace, Haryana Police have not only started the process of attaching the properties of drug mafias but also securing conviction of offenders booked under NDPS Act through effective prosecution process and presentation of evidence before the concerned courts.

As a result, the Court of Additional District and Session Judge, Kurukshetra today sentenced two persons to 15 years of imprisonment in NDPS case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on each convict, who would have to undergo 6 months additional imprisonment in case of non-payment of fine.

Giving this information here today, a spokesperson of Haryana Police said that the two accused, both residents of district Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, were arrested by the police on April 21, 2018 in Kurukshetra district  after it recovered 1400 intoxicating injection (2 ml), 600 injections (1 ml) and 240 injections (1 ml) from them.

The Court, after going through all the evidence, convicted accused Arjun Singh alias Garv and Devpushp Kumar after holding them guilty under NDPS Act and sentenced each convict 15 years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 2 lakh each.
