Punjab Government is cheating farmers in the name of Minimum Support Price (MSP)of crops, Says Dushyant

Chandigarh, October 22 – Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala said that the Punjab Government is cheating farmers in the name of Minimum Support Price (MSP)of crops. If Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh is truly farmer friendly, then instead of buying only wheat and paddy at MSP, Punjab should also purchase mustard, millet, pulses, sunflower, and other crops at MSP.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Food Supply and Consumer Affairs Department, said this while interacting with media persons today after inducting newly appointed Chairman of Housing Board Haryana, Mr. Rajdeep Phogat in his office.

In response to a query, the Deputy Chief Minister said that FCI does not procure paddy of variety 1509, so the Haryana Government has decided to procure variety 1509 of paddy on the lines of other varieties by Hafed at MSP of Rs 1888 per quintal. He said that in Haryana, five other crops are also procured at MSP at the state level instead of the MSP of the Central Government.

Later, the Deputy Chief Minister also inducted the newly appointed Chairman, Sugarfed, Mr. Ramkaran Kala and Chairman, Haryana Khadi and Village Industries Board, Mr. Ram Niwas in their respective offices. Subsequently, Mr. Chautala also inducted Mr. Pawan Kharkhauda to take charge in the Haryana Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation in Sector 22, Chandigarh.

MLA, Mr. Ishwar Singh, Chief Administrator, Housing Board, Mr. Anshaj Singh and Secretary, Mrs. Mamta Sharma, besides other senior officers of the district administration and family members of newly appointed chairmen and their supporters were also present on the occasion.
