Inauguration of Model Road Safety Knowledge Centre in Faridabad
Haryana Driving Manual and Sadak Sansar Book launched
Chandigarh, August 9 – With a view to ensure enhanced road safety and inculcating safe driving behaviour among road users, Haryana Principal Secretary (Transport), Sh. Shatrujeet Kapur inaugurated a Model Road Safety Knowledge Centre (RSKC) started in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) in Faridabad today.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Shatrujeet Kapur said that “Road Safety is an ongoing national concern. In line with the country’s target of reducing accidents, the state of Haryana has also set a target to reduce road accidents by more than half by 2030. For this, every road user will have to make road safety his personal responsibility, only then we will be able to fulfill the dream of accident-free Haryana. This Road Safety Knowledge Centre will play an important role in making it possible. This centre will provide basic knowledge of correct road usage and safe driving habits to new license seekers and general public.
Elaborating on Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to safer roads, Sh. Rahul Bharti said, “Maruti Suzuki is delighted to partner with the Haryana Transport Department in this life-saving initiative. We are committed to encourage safe driving behaviour among road users in the state. At Maruti Suzuki we are taking a holistic approach to road safety, from vehicle design to road safety education. More than 80 percent of road accidents in India are due to human error. We are hopeful that this model will develop the practice of safe driving behaviour among road users in RSKC city.”
In order to provide quality driving training and education, the Company has also established 7 driving and Traffic Research Institutes (IDTRs), out of which 2 are located in Haryana.
Haryana Driving Manual and Sadak Sansar Book launched
While inaugurating both the books, Haryana Principal Secretary, Sh. Shatrujeet Kapur said that the book titled ‘Haryana Driving Manual’ will surely be beneficial for the youth. This book is divided into chapters like Safe and Responsible Driving, Renewal of Driving License, Rules of the Road, Traffic Signs and Road Signs. The purpose of publication and distribution of the book is to enforce discipline on the road, prevent accidents, proper training for driving and effective licensing system. This book was made available through Road Safety Knowledge Centre and Road Safety Club to all the students of school/higher education by mail as soon as the eBooks were launched. Along with this, through these two books, all forms of knowledge, films, drama and all mediums of art have been mobilized in making all sections of the society sensitive and aware about road safety.
Transport Commissioner, Sh. Amitabh Singh Dhillon, Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad, Sh. Jitendra Yadav and Executive Director, Maruti Suzuki, Sh. Rahul Bharti were also present.
