Chandigarh, August 19- Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. Jai Prakash Dalal has said that as per the objective of Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, plans have been prepared to provide 100 percent water at 1354 tails across the state. He said that motor and pump set repair work of water lifting irrigation projects in Mahendragarh, Rewari, Charkhi Dadri, Bhiwani and Jhajjar districts of southern Haryana should be completed on priority basis and water availability should be ensured at every tail of this region by September 30, 2020
Mr. Dalal was presiding over the review meeting of the canal system with the Superintendent Engineers of Bhiwani, Hisar, Hansi and Siwani Divisions here today.
In the meeting, Chief Engineer of Irrigation & Water Resources Department, Mr. Satbir Singh Kadian apprised the Minister about the canal system through a map across the state. It was informed in the meeting that the Department has prepared projects of worth Rs 3251 crore for the rejuvenation of Western Jamuna Canal (WJC) carrier system i.e Sirsa branch, Hansi branch , JLN feeder, Bhalaut branch, Delhi branch and main off-tax of Gurugram water supply channel. Besides this, an additional capacity of 3700 cusec from Hamida Head to Munak Head has been increased to utilize the maximum available water during the monsoon season after the rejuvenation of the Western Jamuna Canal carrier system at a cost of Rs 210 crore. It was also informed in the meeting that 212 new schemes of worth Rs 195.51 crore have been approved by the State Drought Relief and Flood Control Board for flood control and drainage works during the year 2020-21. Out of the total 1354 tails, a special operation has also been started to deliver water at 41 tails in remote areas. Along with this, a target has also been set up to install 215 rain water harvesting structures during the year 2020-21.
Mr. Dalal directed the officials that special programs should also be carried out regularly to promote the micro irrigation projects so that more and more farmers adopt micro irrigation projects. The Minister was apprised that proposal for micro irrigation projects of worth Rs 1219.65 crore have been sent to the Union Ministry of Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers’ Welfare, after which the water capacity will be increase and 72,327 hectare of land area will come under micro irrigation.
Chief Engineer, Mr. Rakesh Chauhan, Bhiwani-Hisar Irrigation Board Superintendent Engineer. Mr. Jasmer Singh, XEN of Hansi Division, Mr. Sandeep Kumar Mathur, XEN of Hisar, Mr. Ramesh Kumar and XEN of Siwani, Mr. Sanjeev Saharan were present during the meeting.
