Chandigarh, May 28: Divisional Commissioner, Hisar, Sh. Chander Shekhar said that during the talks held with the leaders leading the farmers’ agitation after the protest held on May 24, 2021, assurance of holding a peaceful and non-violent protest was given.
However, despite the assurance given by them, just after two days on May 26, 2021, a similar incident happened when the protesters after illegally removing the barricades at Bhumanshah Chowk had burnt an effigy just 200 meters away from the Deputy Chief Minister’s residence.
However, the Police and Administration acted sensibly during this period, which kept the situation under control, he said.
He has urged all the farmer leaders involved in the talks to ensure that this type of incident does not occur again in future.
