Chandigarh, August 6 – Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. Jai Prakash Dalal has said that an initiative has been taken to achieve the objective of Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi to increase the income of farmers by 2022. Soil Health Cards are being issued to farmers to maintain fertility of the land. Besides this, a scheme has been launched to provide machinery on up to 80 percent subsidy for crop residue management.
In a statement issued here today, the Agriculture Minister said that in order to prevent air pollution and to save depleting soil fertility, the State Government has focused on crop residue management. In view of this, the Department has sought online applications from group of farmers and individual farmers from August 7 to 17, 2020 for crop residue management scheme 2020-21 to provide stubble management machinery and to set up Custom Hiring Centres in the State. This is being done so that subsidies can be issued for purchasing residue management equipments before paddy harvesting season from October 1 to 15, 2020.
Mr. Dalal said that the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and National Green Tribunal have already been showing major concern to prevent pollution in Delhi.
He said that Haryana is such a state in the country where there are Agriculture Universities, Horticulture Universities and Veterinary Universities. Besides this, various plans are being made for farmers to increase their income in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Horticulture as well. Apart from this, a large amount has been allocated for agriculture and allied sectors under the economic package of Rs 20 lakh crore for self-reliant India. In an economic package of one lakh crore rupees announced to develop agricultural infrastructure in the country, Rs 3900 crore have been allocated to Haryana.
