Chandigarh, September 12 – Under the Khelo India campaign, Central Government has launched Mini Sports Centre Scheme for the development and promotion of sports at the grassroots level.
Under this scheme, these mini-sports centres will be run by former champion players to train new players. For these mini-sports centres, applicants can apply at District Sports and Youth Program Officers’ office by September 30, 2020.
Sharing more information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that the scheme covers 14 Olympic Games including archery, athletics, boxing, badminton, cycling, fencing, hockey, judo, rowing, shooting, swimming, table-tennis, weight lifting and wrestling etc. Apart from this, football and other sports can also be included in this scheme.
New players while getting training under this scheme will make their state and country proud by winning in the games at national and international level, said the spokesman.
He said that under this scheme, Central Government will provide a onetime amount of Rs. five lakh to these Centres for maintenance of sports grounds, sports equipment and sports kits etc.
He said that for this scheme any institution of any district which has worked to promote sports in the last five years or any national, international and former champion players can submit their application in the office of District Sports and Youth Program Officer.
For this, if any sports institution and currently established training centre that is to be transformed into the Khelo India Mini Sports Centre, then the concerned organization or centre can submit the required proposal.
