Chandigarh, August 28 – Haryana Governor, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya has conveyed his greetings and good wishes to all sports persons of the country, in particular of Haryana, on the occasion of National Sports Day today. “Our sports persons are shining in the world. Their perseverance has leapfrogged India into the global league of recognition and excellence,” said Sh. Dattatraya.
Recalling the feat of legendary Indian Hockey player Padma Bhushan Major Dhyan Chand whose birth anniversary is celebrated as the National Sports Day every year in the country, Sh. Dattatraya said: “Major Dhyan Chand was an iconic hockey player and brought rare recognition, pride and confidence to us as a nation. His feat will inspire youths for generations to come.”
“Our youths should not only take pride in the tenacity, determination and zeal of India’s great sports persons like Major Dhyan Chand, who was among the country’s foremost players to bring laurels to us, but should also draw inspiration from them to pursue their goals with complete dedication,” he said.
Talking about the performance of Indian sports persons in recently concluded Tokyo Olympics, Shri Dattatraya said that various efforts like ‘Khelo India’ are making a positive impact under the able leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi.
He also lauded the sports persons of Haryana for their excellent performance in Tokyo Olympics. “It is a matter of great pride,” said Sh. Dattatraya, adding that even 19 players from the State from are taking part in the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics.
Sh. Dattatraya also congratulated Bhavina Patel for entering the final of table tennis event in the ongoing Paralympics in Tokyo. He said that Bhavina has created a new history. He extended best wishes to Bhavina and said that she will definitely win gold and bring laurels to the country.
