Chandigarh, April 29 – Haryana Police has arrested two persons from Panipat on the charges of black-marketing of remdesivir injection, considered a life-saving drug in this pandemic. Three injections also recovered from them.
Giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that arrested accused were identified as Imran and Manoj, both residents of Panipat district. Accused Imran was posted as Area Manager at Lal Path Lab, while Manoj runs a medical store in a hospital.
The accused were trying to sell one vial of remdesivir for Rs 20000. Initial probe revealed that they had so far sold 12 injections at various places.
Police received secret input about black-marketing of the drug. Upon getting information, police immediately raided the location alongwith Panipat drug control officer and nabbed the accused. When searched, 3 vials of remdesivir were found from his bag. He was asked to submit the purchase records of the injections, the sale license of the drugs, but he failed to produce any license or receipt on the spot. When interrogated, the accused told that he is posted as Area Manager in Panipat Lal Path Lab. He has purchased the said vials from Manoj, operator of Saini Medical Store at Ravindra Hospital.
The police team had also nabbed the store operator and when the accused questioned, they confessed to having sold 12 injections so far at a cost of Rs 20000 per vial. On the complaint of the Drug Control Officer, a case was registered against them under various sections of the Drug and Cosmetic Act and IPC. Further investigation is underway.
