The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said here on Tuesday that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh (who also holds the portfolios of Home and Excise ministries) has yet to reach out to the aggrieved families of 110 people died due consumption of poisonous liquor in three districts of Majha area, including Tarn Taran, Amritsar and Batala (Gurdaspur).
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and Member of Parliament (MP) Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday accompanied by party MLAs and prominent leaders were detained for two hours on way to ‘gherao’ Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh’s luxurious Siswan Farm House, near Chandigarh here. They were detained near New Chandigarh.
On the occasion, Bhagwant Mann, Harpal Singh Cheema and party MLAs and leaders had a heated exchange of arguments between them and the police deployed there. Some leaders, including Garhshankar MLA Jai Krishan Singh Rouri were also injured amid skirmishes. The AAP leaders raised slogans against the Punjab government as they were stopped by the police deployment.
Strongly protesting against the unwarranted highhandedness of the Punjab government, Mann said: “While the mafia is openly selling poison, the Congress leaders /MLAs / ministers have forged an unholy alliance with the police administration indulging in selling ‘Chitta’ (a kind of drug) liquor through the mafia lords enjoying protective patronage of the ruling government. When we were on the way to his luxurious farmhouse to stir him (Capt. Amarinder Singh) out of deep slumber but stopped us by a heavy deployment of police force present their”
Mann said “Even if the Punjab government and the police dispensation throw us in jails but we will keep fighting at all levels against the system till the time Captain Amarinder Singh and his ministers tender their resignation on moral grounds. No force can silence our voice”
On this occasion, Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema said that the entire command of Badal’s mafia in the state was now under the control of the Congress government led by Captain Amarinder Singh. Cheema said both the ‘Royal Farmhouses’ raised by the Captain and Sukhbir Singh Badal was a testament to the fact that they were hand in glove in ‘looting’ the state.
