Once again sending a strong message in the society for safety and security of minors, Special Court of Ld District and Sessions Judge Rupnagar on Friday convicted a man named Saleem Son of Barkat Ali of Khamano Kalan, Fatehgarh Sahib for 3 years and 3 months.
It is informed that case dates back March 2022 when on 13.3.2022, the minor victim was going to attend the call of nature, then the accused along with his associate tried to forcibly make the minor sit on the motorcycle and sexually assaulted her. FIR was registered under sections 323,354,363,511 and Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act . Police presented the final report on 27.4.2022.
Thereafter accused was charge sheeted for the offences. Trial was conducted before the special court of Ld Sessions Judge Rupnagar. Agreeing with the contention of learned State Counsel, Ms. Ramesh Kumari, District & Sessions Judge, Rupnagar, held accused Saleem guilty on 25.1.2024 and convicted him for offence under Sections 363 IPC read with Section 511 IPC for 3 years and 3 months and also imposed fine of Rs 3000/-, One year imprisonment each under Sections 323,354 and Sec 12 of POCSO Act was also awarded and fine of Rs 1500/- each was also imposed under these sections.
