AAP leaders meet PSEB Chairman, demand immediate declaration of 10th (Open Sch) results

Mohali, August 13

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has taken up the issue of non-announcement of results of 10th Open Class students by Punjab School Education Board, with the authorities pointing out that the failure to do so would cast a shadow on the future of thousands of students in the state.

Senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh and MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Thursday called on Punjab School Education Board Chairman Dr Yograj Singh and appealed to him that the results of 10th board (Open School) be announced as soon as possible, so as to enable thousands of students from the state to take part in the Indian Army recruitment, slated for August 30.

Harpal Singh Cheema said that Punjab as per the record, there were a total of 31,000 students for 10th class (open class) and a whopping amount to the tune of Rs. 46.50 crore (Rs 15,000 per head) was collected from them by the Board / Government every year, but were now running away from the responsibility of  declaring the results on time.

Harpal Singh Cheema and Kultar Singh Sandhwan said the results of the students of 10th (Open class) had not been declared as yet, while the results of classes 12th, BA, M.A. had already been declared, adding that this category belonged to the bottom of the pyramid and were studying while earning their wages.

The AAP leaders said that a delegation of the  students aspiring to join the Indian Army had met party MLA Prof. Baljinder Kaur, to apprise her of the ground situation that due to the non-declaration of results by the board, those willing to join the Indian Army after their 10th standard would not be able to apply as the last date for same had been fixed for August 30, saying he (Cheema) had also written a letter to state Education Minister urging him to address the concern of thousands of the beleaguered community.
