10 held in Sirsa for gambling, Rs 2.95 lakh recovered

Chandigarh, Feb 7 – Haryana Police have booked 10 persons under the gambling act after it recovered Rs 2.95 lakh as stake money from their possession in  Sirsa district.

While giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that after receiving a tip-off about the gambling activities, a police team conducted a raid at the given location in the district and nabbed 10 persons indulging in gambling. Stake money of Rs 2.95 lakh was also seized by the police during the raid.

Out of the total arrested accused, one each from Rajasthan and Punjab while the other seven residents of Sirsa, Fatehabad and Hisar districts. A case under the provisions of the Gambling Act was registered against them and further investigation is underway.

It is worth mentioning that a few days back, joint police teams in Sirsa had also recovered Rs 4.82 lakh after the arrest of 14 accused under the gambling act.
