Chandigarh, 8 September 2020

Highlighting the importance of oximeters in curbing the corona epidemic, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders having expertise in the medical field lashed out at the state government, saying that the corona’s wrath was taking a terrible turn due to the government’s arrogant attitude and poor management.

Addressing a press conference in Jalandhar on Thursday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders having experience in the medical profession, Dr. Balbir Singh (Patiala), Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Dr. Shiv Dayal Mali (Jalandhar), Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar (Amritsar), Dr. K.J. Singh (Qadian), Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal (Tarn Taran) said that such misleading and negative remarks were being made by other Congressmen including Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu and Punjab Congress President Sunil Jakhar about AAP’s oximeter campaign. While these are absurd and confusing, AAP’s oximeter campaign in the war against Corona will be a boon to the people and a help to the Punjab government. Informing about the invaluable contribution of oximeters during the Corona War in Delhi, AAP medical leaders termed it as a ‘Ramban’.

On this occasion, citing the reference of the experts, Dr. Balbir Singh said that due to the incompetence of the government, the state was fighting against Corona without weapons and without any strategy.

Despite a long period of lockdown, the Punjab government has not taken any necessary steps to curb the virus. The condition of Government Hospitals and Corona Care Centers is so bad that even the Corona positive ministers, Congress MLAs, officers and even Government Doctors / Vice Chancellors of the government have refused to get treatment in Government Hospitals of Punjab. Nirmal Singh, a MLA from Shutrana (Patiala) who was admitted to Rajindra Hospital, also ran away and was admitted to a private hospital due to poor arrangements of the government.

While rresenting comparative figures of corona cases, tests and deaths in Delhi and Punjab, Dr. Balbir Singh said that the situation in Punjab was deteriorating.

The doctors asked the government to accept AAP’s oximeter campaign as help instead of panicking.

AAP medical leaders said that on the one hand, the government was presenting AAP’s oximeters as unnecessary and dangerous while on the other hand, it is now buying 50,000 oximeters.

Dr. Balbir Singh said that Oximitras (AAP volunteers) who measure people’s oxygen level through oximeters have been trained on the use of oximeters and precautions as per Corona guidelines.
