All farmers can sell wheat crop on May 13 – Dushyant Chautala
Purchase process was stopped due to lockdown
Chandigarh, May 12 – Providing relief to the farmers who were unable to sell their wheat crop due to the lockdown, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that the state government has decided to procure wheat for one day that is tomorrow on May 13, 2021 so that no farmer is deprived of selling their crop during Rabi Procurement season 2021-22.
Deputy Chief Minister said that due to the lockdown, the government will procure the crops of farmers whose wheat had not yet reached the mandis on May 13, 2021. He said that all the farmers of the state can come to the mandis on May 13 and sell their wheat crop. Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that videography of the procurement process will also be done.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that this time the state government had taken a decision in the interest of farmers and had started the wheat procurement process in 396 mandis across the state from April 1, 2021, ten days earlier than the previous years which was now in its final phase. He informed that till now 83.49 lakh metric tonnes of wheat have been received in the mandis. At the same time, the total wheat procurement has been about 81.52 lakh metric tons.
Regarding the payment process, he said that till May 12, an amount of Rs 13681 crore has been made directly in the accounts of farmers and about 930696 J forms of 499056 farmers have also been made. Additionally, the Deputy Chief Minister urged the farmers coming to the mandis to sell their crops to take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of corona pandemic and maintain social distancing along with wearing of masks.
