District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma today informed that as many as 198 candidates were in fray in district Ludhiana after scrutiny of nomination papers regarding the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections.

Divulging the details, Varinder Kumar Sharma informed that in 57-Khanna constituency 12 are left in fray, in 58-Samrala 14, in 59-Sahnewal 25, in 60-Ludhiana (East) 15, in 61-Ludhiana (South) 17, in 62-Atam Nagar 15, in 63-Ludhiana (Central) 9, in 64-Ludhiana (West) 11, in 65-Ludhiana (North) 12, in 66-Gill 15, in 67-Payal 20, 68-Dakha 12, 69-Raikot 11 and in 70-Jagraon constituency 10 candidates are left in fray.
The 12 candidates left in fray in 57-Khanna constituency are Gurkirat Singh from Indian National Congress, Gurpreet Singh from Bharatiya Janta Party, Jasdeep Kaur from Shiromani Akali Dal, Tarunpreet Singh Sond from Aam Aadmi Party, Sukhmit Singh from Punjab Kisan Dal, Joginder Singh from Revolutionary Socialist Party, Darshan Singh from SAD (Amritsar), Sukhwant Singh as Independent, Gurdev Singh as Independent, Jagpreet Singh as Independent, Jai Pal as Independent and Phuman Singh as Independent.
The 14 candidates left in fray in 58-Samrala are Ranjit Singh Gahlewal from BJP, Rupinder Singh Raja Gill from INC, Jagtar Singh Diyalpura from AAP, Paramjit Singh Dhillon from SAD, Dr Sohan Lal Blaggan from Samajwadi Party, Major Singh from Bharatiya Jan Jagriti Party, Rajinder Sharma from Apna Sangharsh Kisani Ekta Party, Varinder Singh Sekhon from SAD (A), Amrik Singh Dhillon, Avneet Singh Bagli Kalan, Sandeep Singh, Kamaljit Kaur, Balbir Singh Rajewal and Labh Singh (all independents).

Meanwhile, Sharma said that the date of withdrawal of candidature is February 4, 2022.
