KARGIL, March 20, 2023: The 2-day training program for homestay owners of Kargil district organized by the Tourism Department Kargil concluded today at Auditorium Hall.
Assistant Director Tourism, Agha Syed Toha, trainers, staff members of the department and trainees were present on the concluding day of the program.
AD tourism while presenting the vote of thanks hoped that the short training program will be proved helpful for the newly selected homestay owners. He said the department will also try to organize refreshing courses for the trainees in the future.
The AD also said that the department will distribute the homestay kits to the newly selected homestay owners within few days.
He further said that main aim of the scheme is to furnish tourists with a touch of homestay atmosphere in a local style, which in turn may promote overall tourism in the UT.
On the second day of the program, the homestay owners were given training on hospitality, etiquette and manners, basic requirements of homestays, feedback importance etc.
The program focused on the prerequisites to be a homestay owner, what does a guest expect from a homestay, how to run a profitable homestay, a home living environment, maintaining hygiene and other aspects.
The Tourism Department has introduced Homestay Policy for Ladakh and is introducing it in each village. It will boost the economy of the region and rural people.
Pertinently, in the second batch, around 290 homestay owners of Kargil district received the necessary training.
Sushil kumar, a trainer gave a presentation on etiquette and manners to the trainees while delivering services to the guest. He also talked about the different suitable gestures and postures while delivering services to the guest.
He also made the trainees aware about the difference between the hotels and the homestays. Trainers practically gave demonstrations to the trainees about how to deliver the food and other services to the guest. The trainees expressed satisfaction with the training provided to them in the program.
