Kargil, March 20, 2023: As part of a series of G-20 events, Kargil Forest Division in collaboration with Govt. Degree College Drass today started two-day World Forestry Day celebrations at the college.
The morning session of the first day program included drawing competition on different topics like Impact of Global Warming on Melting of Glaciers, Ozone Layers Depletion, Climate Change, Solar Power Project for Carbon Neutral Ladakh and slogan writing competition on World Forest Day. Students of different semesters of the college participated in these activities.
In the post-lunch session, the chief guest, Mohd Ali, DFO Kargil was welcomed with traditional khatak by the college’s Principal Dr Amjad Ali Abbasi, followed by his welcome note. Later, a speech competition on Carbon Neutral Ladakh was held in which nine students from different semesters of the college participated.
The DFO Kargil in his speech stressed to conserve forests and natural resources. He stressed that having broad knowledge about cyclic existence of the planet earth is must for all of us.
Irfan Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Mathematics moderated the session. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Haidar Ali, Assistant Professor, Sociology.
