‘Mukh Mantri Punjab Motia Mukt” campaign:
The drive to end on December 31

Under the ‘Mukh Mantri Punjab Motia Mukt Abhiyan” a total of 246 patients suffering from cataract have been operated upon and 7751 people have been screened by eye specialists in government health facilities across the district since November 26. Disclosing this here today, the civil surgeon Dr Adarshpal Kaur said that a total of 109 operations have been performed at District Hospital Mohali, 46 operations at Sub-divisional hospital in Derabassi and 91 operations at Sub-divisional hospital in Kharar so far. The Civil Surgeon said that with a view to ensure better healthcare facilities to the people of the state, the campaign was launched on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on November 26 all across the state.
She said that to make this campaign complete success, private hospitals have also been made part of this drive, which would continue till December 31. An awareness van is also visiting different places in the district.
Notably, eye camps are being organized in the district as part of the drive, wherein the eye sight of the people is being thoroughly examined and those found suffering with cataract are being operated upon after a period of 15 days free of cost. “The transportation facility including pick up and drop back is also being provided to the people along with the refreshments for the people undergoing operations”, said the officer, adding that free spectacles are also to be provided to those operated upon. She appealed to the people of the district to come forward and avail full benefit of this initiative.
