Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav
Rupnagar: 16 June 2021 On the 2nd day of Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, Ropar Wildlife Division, Department of Forests and Wildlife Preservation, Punjab organized a virtual seminar on the theme of ‘Wondrous Wetlands- Punjab da Amrit’ on 16th June 2021
Day 2 of this 3-day celebrations proved to be a highly interesting &enlightening as the attendees were given knowledge by the learned personalities who have spent their lives working towards the improvement of environment, biodiversity and wetlands.
With around 125 participants, the two-hour webinar had Dr Abdul Qayyum, IFS, DFO Chandigarh as a speaker who shared the detailed case study on Sukhna Wetland and another speaker wasHonorary Wildlife Warden Mr Nikhil Sanger who shared his experiences on rescue of snakes in urban areas.
Dr Monika Yadav, IFS, DFO Ropar who conducted the webinar showed a virtual tour audio visual on Ropar city and said that Ropar is a great place to study and understand history, culture and nature and more and more people should be aware about the wonders of this small place. She also said that the Day 3 of Amrit Mahotsav celebrations will witness opening of Bats Track near Sarabarat Nature Trail. The opening of the track will be a physical event.
Along with the virtual seminar, the department has also invited the school students to participate in the competition of story-telling (till class 6), model making (class 7-9) and presentation/ write up (class 10-12) on the topic ‘Your Action Plan for Natural Resources’.
