30-hour Course on ‘GST Return Filing’ begins at MCM

Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (CSDE), Panjab University, Chandigarh, inaugurated a 30-hour course on ‘GST Return Filing. The course is being coordinated by the Skill Development Cell and Postgraduate Department of Commerce at the college. Spanning over 7 days, the course aims to create trained personnel for taxation related jobs as well as for entrepreneurship, by providing holistic understanding of Goods and Service Tax along with the practical aspects of registration and return filing under GST. Participants from various higher educational institutions of the tricity have registered for the course. The members of the non-teaching office staff of the college are also attending the course as a part of capacity building and professional development. The first session of the course was conducted by CA Ankur Sharma. He gave an introduction to the taxation system in India and provided a bird’s eye view of the concept of GST with practical examples. For the second session the resource person was CA Jatin Rathour. CA Rathour discussed the basic terminologies of GST Act, 2017 in India along with the features and benefits of GST. Both the sessions of the first day were highly interactive and the participants enthusiastically took part in discussions with the resource persons.

Officiating Principal Ms. Suman Mahajan expressed gratitude to Prof. Suveera Gill, Director, CSDE, Panjab University, for her support and encouragement. She further congratulated the organising team for this wonderful initiative and urged the participants to imbibe the learning of the course and capitalise every bit of it.
