Leh, Aug 28: As per the Livestock Development Officer Leh of the Block Veterinary Office Chuschod, mass castration of stray/community bulls was carried out from 26th of this month in the villages of Sakti, Chemday, and Matho where 23 mass castrations were performed. In the villages of Rambirpur, Nang, Thiksay 1st and Palam 25 castrations were performed, and 10 castrations were performed in the villages of Thiksay B and Stakmo by the veterinary doctors and para-vets of the department.
The mass castration is carried out to avoid the inbreeding and genetic improvement and to implement the NAIP program successfully in the blocks. Similar mass castration will be conducted as per the schedule informed earlier in various villages.
