Postal ballot vote casting for Mehal Kalan, Bhadaur assembly constituencies completed

994 voters above the age of 80 years and physically disabled in the district have opted for casting their votes through postal ballot provision.

Giving this information here today the District Election Officer-cum- Deputy Commissioner Mr Kumar Saurabh Raj said in order to ensure that each and every voter gets opportunity to cast his or her vote, the election commission this time has introduced postal ballot system.
He added that all these voters had filled form 12D through their respective booth level officers. Following the instructions from Election Commission teams have been formed at assembly constituencies to get postal ballot votes cast.
The postal ballot voting in constituencies of Mehal Kalan and Bhadaur has been completed today, while the same for Barnala Assembly Constituency will be conducted on February 11, 12 and 14.
A team of 6 members including presiding officer, assistant presiding officer, cameraman, micro observer and two security guards are visiting the household of voters who have opted for postal ballot and getting their vote cast. The entire procedure is being video graphed.
Giving assembly wise details of the voters above age of 80 plus and of physically disabled Mr Kumar Saurabh Raj added that total 994 people will cast their vote through postal ballot. These include 847 people in the category of 80 years above age and the rest 147 are the physically disabled voters.
There are 315 voters in 80 years plus category and 43 disabled voters in Bhadaur. Similarly in Barnala Assembly Constituency there are 320 voters in 80 years plus category and 87 disabled voters. Also in Mehal Kalan Assembly Constituency there are 212 voters in 80 plus category and 17 voters in disabled category.
The district Election Officer added that after having cast their vote through postal ballot these voters will not have to go to the polling booth to cast their vote.
