KARGIL SEPTEMBER 04, 2020: Development Commissioner Handicrafts, Union Ministry of Textiles and Nodal Officer COVID-19 for UTs of J&K and Ladakh, Shantmanu along with a team of senior doctors from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GoI during their two day visit to Kargil district took stock of the measures being taken up by the Administration to contain the novel Coronavirus in the district.
The team visited the dedicated COVID-19 Hospital at Kurbathang today and took brief about the patient care facilities at the hospital especially in view of the approaching winter season.
The team appreciated the measures being taken at the COVID-19 Hospital for patient care and cleanliness and also gave their valuable inputs and suggestions towards patient management, infection control and prevention besides other related aspects.
Shantmanu along with the team of doctors also convened a meeting with the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan, Executive Councillor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan, Deputy Commissioner/ District Magistrate and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary and other concerned officers regarding the status of COVID control measures in the district.
During the course of the meeting, the team was informed that all out measures are being taken by the Administration towards better patient care and efficient COVID-19 mitigation measures including effective awareness through a continued mass level campaign besides also ensuring the active participation of community heads, religious scholars, prominent citizens and PRIs to use their influence and approach in their respective areas and prepare common masses to follow and adhere to all SOPs and other guidelines to contain the transmission of the deadly virus.
Shantmanu said that all out steps would be taken to extend adequate facilities to fortify COVID-19 prevention measures the district.
Meanwhile, the team of doctors on Wednesday visited Containment zones at Baroo and Drass and also inspected Patient Care Wards, Covid Care Centers, Sample Collection Centers and other centres to assess the facilities being extended to the inmates there.
The Doctors’ team comprised of Dr Kapil Goel and Dr K T Prasad from PGI Chandigarh, Dr Mahesh Wagmaray from NCDC Delhi and Dr Sidharth from Safdarjang Hospital Delhi.
