Ward no 77 Councillor Maninder Kaur Ghuman who is also the district president of Mahila Morcha of BJP & her husband Davinder Singh Ghuman, Vice President, Kisan Morcha, BJP say they were disillusioned due to anti-people policies of BJP

Senior Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders today joined the Indian National Congress party in the presence of Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu. District president of Mahila Morcha of BJP and Ward no 77 Councillor Maninder Kaur Ghuman, her husband Davinder Singh Ghuman, who is Vice President of Kisan Morcha, BJP and their supporters today left the BJP and joined Congress.
It is pertinent to mention that Maninder Kaur Ghuman was the only non-Congress councillor who had won out of 17 wards in Ludhiana (West) constituency. Interestingly, now all 17 wards of the constituency have Congress councillors.
Both the leaders said that they were disillusioned due to anti-people policies of BJP. They said that for the last many months, the BJP leaders have been cut off from their workers and rather than working for the betterment of common man, they have been working merely to safeguard the interests of a select corporate houses. They also alleged that the BJP has lost the vision and will to serve the common man.
They alleged that the way BJP has handled the farmers issue, the BJP leaders cant even face common man and face protests daily. So listening to their conscience, they have decided to join the Congress. They said on the other hand, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi led Congress party is a government of common man.
Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu, Ashwani Sharma DCC, Ludhiana (Urban) President, Shyam Sunder Malhotra, Senior Deputy Mayor, Ludhiana, councillors Mamta Ashu, Narinder Sharma, Sunny Bhalla, Maharaj Singh Raji, senior Congress leaders Sunil Kapoor, Munish Shah were also present on the occasion.
While welcoming both the senior BJP leaders into party fold, Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that both Maninder Kaur Ghuman and her husband Davinder Singh Ghuman would be given due respect in the party forum and it would also strengthen the party in Ludhiana (West) constituency.
