Reviewing the paddy procurement operations in the district administrative complex, the Deputy Commissioner said that the administration had already banned the harvesting of paddy crop between 8 pm to 10 am in the district. He said the during night hours, dew on the crop gets settled in the grain and if the farmers harvest during these hours, procurement agencies face difficulties in  purchase due to the moisture content in the grain.

He said that in past few days, excess moisture content is being witnessing in the grains so the officials along with police counterparts need to keep vigil and ensure harvesting do not take place in between 8 pm to 10 am in their areas.

Deputy Commissioner said that since the starting of procurement of grains in the district from October 3 in the state, 775093 metric ton paddy has arrived in the mandis across the district out of which 750876 metric ton has been purchased by the various agencies.

Adhering by the state government guidelines to lift the paddy within 48 hours of its purchase, the procurement agencies have lifted around 93 % of the total procured grains.

Likewise, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration has till now made a payment of Rs 1222.83 crore to the farmers for their produce, which was 100 % of the total payment of the farmers.

He said that in order to avoid any sort of inconvenience to the farmers during the procurement operations, elaborate arrangements were made by the district administration. The procurement of about 17.53 lakh metric ton of paddy was expected in the district this year.
