and to reduce low birth weight by ensuring the provision of nutritious food and organizing such an important Poshan Mela with exhibition of local food items is the need of the hour in a place like Kargil where people remain cut off from the rest of the world for almost six months of the year.

Referring to the concept of Poshan Vahan, Syed Abass Razvi said that the idea for sensitizing people at their doorsteps is a good initiative and now after Ladakh becoming UT emphasis should be laid on the use of local food as well as awareness about its nutritional value. He also urged the ICDS Workers and Helpers to be the agents of change and ambassadors of the Government to disseminate the importance of consuming locally available food for healthy living.
