Dependent family to get monthly financial assistance under ‘ESIC Covid-19 Relief Scheme’ : Haryana Deputy Chief Minister

Chandigarh, November 9 – Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that in case of death of a person registered with ‘Employees State Insurance Corporation’ (ESIC) due to Covid-19, the dependent family will get monthly financial assistance under ‘ESIC Covid-19 Relief Scheme’. This financial assistance will be given in order to ease the financial burden on victim’s family.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Labour and Employment Department, distributed benefit letters to the dependent families of workers registered with ESIC who died after March 24, 2020 due to COVID-19. Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Sh. Anoop Dhanak, Additional Chief Secretary, Labour Department, Sh. Raja Sekhar Vundru were also present during the occasion.

Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that the dependent families of ESIC registered insured workers who have died untimely due to COVID-19 will get a lot of relief from the ‘ESIC COVID-19 Relief Scheme’. He said that this scheme would be of special benefit to the families of the victims who have no source of earning after the death of the main earning member.

 It was informed in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister that this scheme was started on March 24, 2020 which will be applicable for 2 years. Under this scheme, 90 percent of the average daily wage of the insured person who died due to COVID-19 disease, which will be called the full rate of relief, will be paid every month to their dependents. In this, according to the ‘ESIC Covid-19 Relief Scheme’, the prescribed share will be given to the wife of the deceased for life or till the second marriage, the son till the age of 25 and the daughter till the marriage. Not only this, a minimum relief of Rs. 1,800 per month will be given under the payment.

On this occasion, benefit letters were given to the dependent beneficiaries of the deceased Brijesh, Jai Kumar, Sahdev Verma, Ajay Kumar, Rupnarayan, Ramkaran, who were covered under the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Ambala.
