The persons belonging to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) who are not covered under the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs and ALCs shall get 10% reservation in direct recruitment in civil posts and services under the Administration of Union territory of Ladakh. The 10% reservation for EWS is governed by the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Rules, 2005 and its subsequent amendments.

The criteria of income and assets to deduce the Economically Weaker Section has been defined under clause (ixa)1 of Rule 2 of the Rules for Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs). The benefit of reservation under EWS can be availed upon production of an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority. The Competent Authority shall scrutinize the application and conduct such enquiries as may be necessary for verification of the details of the applicant with regard to eligibility of the applicant for the certificate claimed by him/her. As per the Rule 183 of the Rules, the Competent Authority to issue EWS certificate includes District Magistrate; Additional District Magistrate; Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Tehsildar.
As per the Rules, the forms for application for issuance of Income and Asset Certificate to be produced by the Economically Weaker Section shall be as per Form VII-A and Form XIV-A. The forms and detailed information available at: https://ladakh.nic.in/
