“ADVANCED MOLECULAR BIOLOGY TECHNIQUES”

21st – 27th March, 2022
The fifth day of training program on “ADVANCED MOLECULAR BIOLOGY TECHNIQUES” was started by the informative talk of Dr. Deepak Bhatt (Senior Technical Officer, IMTech, Chandigarh), on the first generation DNA sequencing method- the Sanger sequencing Technique. Dr. Bhatt beautifully explained this chain termination method, its significance in clinical genomics and troubleshooting.
Prof. Rajagopal Raman (Department of Zoology, Delhi University), delivered a talk on various types of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and its applications. Prof. Raman also elucidated the use of PCR technology as the gold standard test for diagnosing SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
The day concluded with a visit to Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR-IMTech), Sec-39A, Chandigarh and demonstration of Sanger sequencing and Next Generation Sequencing.
