IEC activities will be accelerated in State so as to make people aware about COVID-19

Chandigarh, October 1 – Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr. Vijai Vardhan said that Information Education Communication (IEC) activities will be accelerated in the State so as to make people aware about the containment of COVID-19 Pandemic. Besides this, directions will be issued to Divisional Commissioners and District Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict compliance of the COVID-19 guidelines issued by Central Government. In addition, they should work closely with other stakeholder departments to make the campaign ‘Appropriate Behavior for COVID-19’ successful in the districts.

          Mr. Vijai gave this information during in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Mr. Rajiv Gauba, Cabinet Secretary of India with the Chief Secretaries of all the states with regard to the intensive and focussed campaign on COVID-19  through  video conferencing here today.

          Mr. Rajiv Gauba said that a nationwide campaign will be launched by the Central Government from October 7, 2020 to make citizens aware of prevention of corona virus in the country. For this, all the Chief Secretaries should speed up all Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities in their respective states and ensure dissemination of maximum information regarding the same. He directed the States to ensure maximum use of Arogya Setu mobile app, encourage people to get their testing done and use the remedies as prescribed by  AYUSH Department to increase immunity.

          It was informed that this campaign has been started in view of the possibility of spread of Corona virus due to the upcoming festival season. The most important way to contain COVID-19 infection  is to remain careful and vigilant and to do this a change in the behavior of the people is required  so that people  can understand the seriousness of this crisis and follow the guidelines issued by the government from time to time.

          In the meeting, Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr. Vijai Vardhan informed that participation of religious leaders, renowned sports personalities and  Non-Governmental Organizations will also be ensured for successful implementation of this campaign. Apart from this, work will also be done to make people aware through social media. He informed that a detailed action plan about IEC activities will be prepared and sent to the Central Government.

          He informed that there is no shortage of production and availability of medical and liquid oxygen in Haryana and adequate arrangement of oxygen in government and private hospitals is being ensured by the State Government.

          Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education and Research Department Mr. Alok Nigam, Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Health and Family Welfare Department, Mr. Rajeev Arora, Principal Secretary, Development and Panchayat Department, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal, Divisional Commissioner, Karnal, Mr. Vineet Garg, Secretary, Personnel and Training Department, Mr. Nitin Yadav, Director General, Information, Public Relations and Language Department, Mr P.C. Meena, Chief Executive Officer, Ayushman Bharat Haryana Health Protection Authority, Mr. Ashok Kumar Meena and other senior officers were present.
