Chandigarh, September 26 – Haryana Education Minister, Mr. Kanwar Pal has said that the new National Education Policy -2020 has focussed on ensuring that every child receives quality education and imbibe good values, so that they are able to steer the country towards right direction.
Mr. Kanwar Pal said that the recently announced New Education Policy emphasises that no child of the country should be deprived of education whether the child is homeless or lives in slum area or living in the city or in the village or metros. Fundamental changes have been made in the Policy to ensure that every child receives quality education starting from pre-school to higher education level easily.
He said that in the present age of information technology, it is necessary for everyone to be literate hence emphasis should be given on providing quality education to children. He has called upon the people to ensure that the illiterate and poor children in their surrounding areas are educated as children are the country’s heritage and future nation-builders.
The Education Minister said that it was for the first time that suggestions for the new National Education Policy were taken from the representatives of the Panchayati Raj, Urban Local Bodies and the representatives of the Parliament and State Legislatures of the country, as well as every educationist who understands the importance and purpose of education. More than 2 lakh suggestions were given and were adjusted in the New Education Policy, which is the biggest feature of this Policy.
The Education Minister said that after the President Mr. Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi duly launched the National Education Policy 2020 through video conferencing, several programmes to spread awareness are being conducted through the webinar at the national level. Haryana Governor, Mr. Satyadeo Narain Arya himself is earnest about the implementation of the New Education Policy and it was on his initiative that a four-day digital conclave of academicians was organized in Chandigarh.
He said that the National Education Policy is going to lay the foundation for a new 21st century India. This policy has been announced after 34 years. The main feature of this policy is to bring about fundamental changes in school education as well, with a focus on three points, ensuring continuity of education of school dropout, emphasis on the concept of pre-school for toddlers and upgrading education-level at par with international standards.
He hoped that the state would definitely take the lead in view of the initiative that Haryana has taken so far regarding the implementation of the National Education Policy.
