More than 35.52 lakh doses of Covid vaccine administered in district so far : Ghanshyam Thori
Jalandhar among leading districts in first dose coverage of 15 to 18 and 12 to 14 age group

Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today urged the people to wear mask in crowded places especially in closed environments to keep the spread of coronavirus under control.

Amid rise in covid cases in some states and UTs, Punjab Government has issued an advisory, said the Deputy Commissioner adding people should wear mask at crowded places for their own and others safety from virus. Masking should be ensured in closed environments including public transport buses, trains, taxis besides cinema halls, shopping malls, department stores, classrooms, office rooms, indoor gatherings etc, he added.
Giving information about the vaccination campaign, the Deputy Commissioner said that so far 35.52 lakh doses of the Covid-19 vaccine had been administered in the district. He further said that 101216 first and 62557 second doses of vaccine had already been given to beneficiaries of 15 to 17 age group respectively besides administering 1762644 first and 1574539 second doses. Likewise, 51630 first and 615 second doses have been given to 12 to 14 age group kids. Jalandhar is among the leading districts of the state by covering 90.21 per cent and 75.76 per cent beneficiaries in 15 to 17 and 12 to 14 age groups under the first dose, he added.
Ghanshyam Thori appealed to the eligible beneficiaries to complete their vaccination at the earliest to avoid the adverse effects of the virus. He said that eligible persons, who yet not get themselves vaccinated, should get their vaccination done as soon as possible. He also asked the parents to come forward to get their children vaccinated so that the kids could be protect from the virus.
