Scooty Distribution Programme Proposed on August 9

Jaipur, May 6 Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot said that the number of colleges in the State has doubled. It is the government’s priority to provide infrastructure facilities, availability of faculties and impart quality education, for which new ambitious schemes are being carried out continuously. The present government has opened 211 new colleges in its tenure; 88 colleges were opened in the current financial year of which 60 were Girls’ colleges. The government has also taken the decision to upgrade 49 undergraduate (UG) government colleges to post graduate (PG) colleges, of which orders have been issued to upgrade 24 colleges.
Shri Gehlot was addressing the reviewing meeting of the Higher Education Department at his official residence on Friday. He said that colleges have been opened in most of the sub divisional headquarters and colleges will be opened in a phased manner in the remaining sub divisional headquarters. Along with opening new colleges to promote higher education, the government is working fast on the recruitment of assistant professors. The Rajasthan Public Service Commission, Ajmer has started releasing subject-wise results to fill the 918 vacant posts of assistant professors. The Finance Department has given the approval to recruit for 1000 posts in the government colleges and RPSC by fulfilling all the formalities by June 2022 will release the notification for the recruitment. He directed to give priority to widows, abandoned, single women, disabled and suffering from serious diseases in transfers.
Government committed to promote Girls’ Education
Shri Gehlot said that the Government is continuously working for women’s empowerment. The Government is making all possible efforts to provide equal opportunities to girls and women in the State to move ahead. The number of Scooty given under Kalibai Bheel Medhavi Chatra Scooty and Devnarayan Chatra Scooty Vitran and Protsahan Rashi Yojana has been increased to 20,000 from 13,000 and the expected amount to be spent is Rs 150 crore. The beneficiaries from this year can purchase scooty of their choice through the ‘e-Rupi’ Janadhaar ‘e-wallet’. It has been asked in the meeting to fix the Scooty distribution programme on August 9.
This year, it has been announced to open new faculties in 25 Government Girls’ Colleges and faculties in 50 Government Colleges. Girl Distance Education Scheme is being brought to link those girls and women with higher education who due to some reasons are unable to go to colleges and universities regularly. Rajasthan is among the leading states in the country in the field of girls’ education due to these efforts of the Government.
Lauds Vidya Sambal Yojana
Shri Gehlot praised the Vidya Sambal Scheme run by the department. He said that 1176 guest faculties under this scheme are doing the teaching work in various colleges. He directed to ensure the teaching work is done through this scheme in 2022-23 session also.
Higher Education infrastructure is getting stronger
In the meeting, it was told that the State Government has approved Rs 177.50 crore for the construction of buildings of Government Colleges in 2022-23. The Memorandum of Understanding (donation deed) has been signed with various philanthropists for the construction of buildings of 6 Government Colleges. Got the land allotted for 114 Government Colleges out of 123 new government colleges opened in 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22. New buildings of 24 Government Colleges have been inaugurated and foundation stone has been laid for the construction of the building of 7 Government Colleges. The Chief Minister directed to start the construction work by allotting the land soon for the colleges running in the temporary buildings. Besides this, he also directed to lay the foundation of the new colleges in the month of July.
Strengthening of NOC Portal and Inspection System of Private Colleges
The department officers said that inspection of 77 private colleges and 38 government colleges was done in the last four months. The Chief Minister directed to remove the shortcomings found during the inspection from the forthcoming session and to take action after serving notice under Non-Government Educational Institutions Act – 1989 on not following the instructions. He said that the entire process of getting the application from the private institution and up to issuing of NOC should be made online. More and more students should be lured to colleges by celebrating Praveshotsav. The message of Rajasthan is leading in the field of higher education would go across the country with these kinds of programmes.
Minister of State for Higher Education Shri Rajendra Singh Yadav said that there would be no compromise with the quality in the construction of college buildings and the construction works would be given pace with complete transparency and would be completed in time-bound manner.
Chief Secretary Smt Usha Sharma, Principal Secretary Finance Shri Akhil Arora, Secretary Higher and Technical Education Shri Bhawani Singh Detha, Commissioner College Education Smt Suchi Tyagi, Joint Secretary Higher Education Dr Pradeep K Gawande, and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
