Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal said that the State Government has decided to design District Good Governance Index for all-around development in the state so that the State Level Development Index can be prepared by conducting a comparative study at the district level. This will further ensure healthy competition with regard to development among the districts which will result in enhancing the development index of the state. Thus, the state will be included among the leading states at the national level.

The Chief Secretary was presiding over the meeting with regard to District Good Governance Index with the administrative officers here today. In the meeting, Finance Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department Sh. P.K. Das, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance and Planning Department, Sh. T.V.S.N. Prasad, Commissioner and Secretary, Administration Reforms Department Sh. Pankaj Agarwal and Director Development and Panchayats Department, Sh. Dhirendra Khadgata and many other senior officers were present.
The Chief Secretary said that the 58 development indices prepared by the Jammu and Kashmir Government on 10 sectors should be studied comprehensively and then the district specific index on the basis of geographical and cluster location of the State should be prepared. These include Agriculture and Allied Sector, Commerce and Industry, Human Resource Development, Public Health, Civic Infrastructure and Facilities, Social Welfare and Development, Financial Inclusion, Justice and Public Security, Environment and Citizen Central Governance.
He further said that the government under the able leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal is committed to provide good governance to the citizens. Thus, the government is already working in the direction of good governance by taking many crucial decisions. It is being ensured that the welfare schemes reach the common man by providing online facilities through good governance. He said that the Haryana Government has started the process of good governance for the convenience of the common people on the lines of the Government of India. Good Governance Day is also being celebrated in the state since 2014, he added.
