In an initiative to spread awareness and educate the students about various career opportunities in securities markets, the Postgraduate Department of Commerce at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and National Institute of Securities Markets (NiSM), organised a webinar on Career in Securities Markets. The speaker, Ms. Hershita Pant, Deputy Manager, NiSM elaborated on various academic courses related to securities markets and discussed the career opportunities in detail during the session. Ms. Hershita explained various concepts related to the financial sector using examples from the industry and apprised the students about relevant courses conducted by NiSM. The students thoroughly enjoyed the session and actively participated in the question-answer session at the end of the webinar. As many as 61 students enthusiastically participated in the webinar. In another initiative, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ initiative of the Government of India, SEBI and NiSM organised a nation-wide Financial Markets Quiz. The students of the college actively participated in the same. A total of 236 students of the college from various streams registered for the same.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava appreciated the efforts of the Postgraduate Department of Commerce to enlighten students about career opportunities in Securities markets. She added that the college regularly holds such useful sessions for apprising students about various career opportunities so as to help students make informed career choices.
