Chandigarh, August 8 – Haryana Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal said that 5 lakh tablets were purchased by the state government for the students of class X to XII studying in Government schools. He said that total expenditure incurred on the purchase of above said tablets is Rs. 620 Crore.
He gave this information while responding to a question raised in Monsoon Session of the Vidhan Sabha here today.
The Education Minister said that the children will get 2 MBPS speed of free internet facility with the usage of 2 GB data per day. He said that the internal memory capacity of the tablet is 32 GB, the Random Access Memory (RAM) size is 2 GB and the type of tablet purchased is ‘Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite (Android based)’. The tender for the purchase of above said tablets was floated by the Directorate of Supplies & Disposals (DS&D) Haryana.
Sh. Kanwar Pal said that a committee of technical experts from I.T. Cell of the Department of School Education, Haryana comprising of the Joint Director (IT), Deputy Director (IT) and Programmers has recommended the specifications. He said that these specifications were approved by the Administrative Secretary of School Education Department. The specifications have been approved on basis of the recommendations of the above said technical committee and inputs from the prospective bidders during pre-bid meeting.
The Education Minister said that Personalized & Adaptive Learning (PAL) software has been provided along with the tablets for English, Hindi and Social Science subjects. He further informed that M/S WE Excel Software Pvt. Ltd, IT Park, Chandigarh has provided the PAL software. A rigorous and systematic process was followed for the selection of the PAL software provider. The selection was made on the basis of technical evaluation based on the score of PAL software solution, proof of concept (PoC) engagement at school level and systematic scoring of the software including organizational capability. The PAL software was also evaluated on the guidelines issued by NCERT, he added.
