ADC (D) Avneet Kaur appreciated the work done by banks in various parameters. While presiding the district level Consultative Committee, she reviewed progress of all the banks under Annual Credit Plan 2022-23 and advised the Bankers to keep a proactive and sympathetic approach towards pending applications under all Govt Sponsored schemes. She also advised the departments to keep a follow up of subsidies so that the beneficiary could receive the benefit well on time. She added that mission mode approach is required from banker fraternity in order to achieve District Targets and upliftment of needy and poor.
District Consultative Committee Meeting was convened on by the Lead Bank Office, Punjab National Bank, SAS Nagar at District Administrative Complex, to review the progress of Banks for which was attended by District Coordinators of all Banks of the District and all the line departments.
Sh. M. K. Bhardwaj Chief LDM informed that the district has surpassed the Priority Sector targets with an achievement of 43.31 % against the national goal of 40%. The Credit Deposit Ratio is 60.48% against the national goal of 60%. Under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna 219045 & Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojna 75784 beneficiaries had been covered up to 31.12.2023. Sh. M.K.Bhardwaj also urged the private sector banks to give special focus on social security schemes launched by Govt. of India like Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojna and Atal Pension Yojna.He added that in our District , Agriculture sector is going in deficit and its every banker’s duty to increase finance under Agriculture Sector. He also appreciated the performance of Private Sector Banks in the MSME sector.
Sh. Manish Gupta, District Development Manager NABARD apprised about the various subsidies in Govt sponsored schemes being provided by NABARD to uplift and encourage the public engaged in self employment through these schemes. He also applauded the work being done by Punjab Gramin Bank ,Punjab National Bank and Yes Bank for their contribution in Agriculture Infrastructure Scheme. He also appreciated the Punjab Gramin Bank and Co-operative Bank’s performance in financing Joint Liability Groups in the District. He said ground level mobilization is only possible with the handholding of bankers for implementation of the Govt sponsored schemes.
Mrs. Garima Bassi, Lead District Officer, Reserve Bank of India, conveyed her message that the District should focus to boost Agriculture sector and weaker sector and effective planning should be made for their growth. She said that all banks should put special efforts to cover all the left out accounts in Digitalization so that our District achieves 100% Digitalization in upcoming quarter. She added that bank branches should ensure strict adherence to Reserve Bank of India guidelines. She also focused on increasing financial literacy and digital awareness among rural people.
